We build technology that doesn't fall apart, and we help people and communities get comfortable with technology on their own terms. We go slow and fix what others have broken or never bothered to address.Where do you want to start?I'm new here → Start with the book. It's the shortest path to the whole picture.

Hitherto Center for the Advancement of Technological Trust
The Illusion of InnovationMainstream technology has stalled. From the apps on your phone to the global digital infrastructure running our schools, healthcare campuses, and governments, today’s dominant systems are structurally broken. Technologists are simply taking the fragile, centralized architectural legacies of the past, wrapping them in a layer of predictive AI, and selling them as progress. What is yet worse, this hype cycle feeds on institutional vulnerability. Entire governments and critical public sectors are being sold rigid, complex systems they do not have the personnel or capability to maintain. Dropping advanced infrastructure into a community without the baseline literacy or trained staff to secure it isn't digital advancement, it is a system of vendor lock-in that borders on fraud. We reject the lie that society must blindly accept whatever is put in front of them. The Hitherto Center for the Advancement of Technological Trust (H-CATT) proves there is another way. By designing from a strict framework of data sovereignty and "Least Harm," we prove that building with intentional virtue doesn’t slow innovation down, it builds entirely superior, resilient systems for the common good.
The Elucidation of Our Emblem
Every line, cipher, and sentinel within our device maps out our core commitments to the expansion of technological virtue toward the common good. We're sharing this so that we can make sense, and not just to ourselves. Nothing we do is without good cause and deep consideration. It's also a nice wee break from giant blocks of text.

About Us
Our Mission
H-CATT is an independent research and engineering collective dedicated to rebuilding technological trust from the architecture up.We execute this mission through three strict commitments:- Sovereignty by Design: Building open-source, decoupled protocols that guarantee data autonomy and eliminate extractive vendor dependencies.- Forensic Verification: Rigorously benchmarking emerging models and digital infrastructure to expose vulnerabilities before they reach critical public sectors.- Human-Centric Durability: Designing enduring tools tailored to the practical realities, literacy baselines, and operational environments of the communities utilizing them.

The Book

Kairos Praxis is the field guide for anyone who doesn't want to participate in the extractive version of the current industry, or at least doesn't want to get lost in it forever. It began as a small guide for a handful of people who asked for help. It became something much larger.Print and eBook version available 1 September 2026. eBook pre-orders available now

New Paper - Alert!
Earlier this week we published a new paper. You can read it HERE
This time we're talking about how The IMF says Sub-Saharan Africa must choose between a 0.2% AI productivity baseline or relying on foreign debt and corporate tech dependencies. To be perfectly clear, we reject that premise entirely. In this paper, we outline a field-tested alternative:Sovereign Language Data Trusts: Monetizing underrepresented speech corpora to self-fund public infrastructure; zero external debt required.Stateless-by-Design Protocols: Using zero-persistence architectures (the Bauta Valve) to make data extraction mathematically impossible.Asynchronous Solar Edge Compute: Running local, offline AI inference that bypasses fragile grids and foreign cloud lock-in.6 Non-Negotiable Procurement Gateways: Code-level safety defaults that protect citizens by design, not by policy. We cite these architectures not as commercial offerings, but as proof of ground truth: better is possible.Society does not need to settle for what is advertised or recommended by dominant market actors. We must look past what is given toward what is right for sovereign digital public infrastructure.
